Attract Visitors to Your Site

In order for visitors to come to your site, they need to know about it. The most basic step to do this is to tell them about it --- that is --- add it to your business card, printed materials, and email signature. Tell the verbally when you see them! Promote your website whenever you talk with your customers or suppliers. Remind them that they can use your website to get directions, office hours and other contact information.

Next you need to get your website firmly linked into the world wide web. This is done by getting links to your site from other sites.

• Ask others to link to your website, maybe in exchange for a link to their site.
• If you publish articles or are referenced in other publications, ask to have your website listed.
• Get your website listed in the directory of organizations that you belong to.
• If appropriate, list your website on posts you make to message boards or other online forums that you participate in.

Think about what search engine keywords you expect your visitors to use. When your site is developed, we will use these keywords consistently in your content and behind the scenes.
